Cats are photographed indoors more than out, so this wall leans on window light, close eye detail, and the small moments between naps — a stretch, a paw over the face, a stare that lasts a second too long.

Most of these frames were taken with whatever light the room had. Soft side light picks up fur texture and keeps the eyes from going flat.

Eyes and whiskers up close

Pupil shape shifts with the light, and whiskers read as fine lines against a dark coat. Close crops hold up better than full-body shots at small sizes.
